- “When March comes in like a lion, it goes out like a lamb.” A lion is strong and fierce and a lamb is gentle. This is an old proverb that means this. When the weather at the beginning of March is like a lion, in other words the weather is very wintry, then the weather at the end of March will be more spring-like. We also say that when March comes in like a lamb, it goes out like a lion. This means that if the weather at the beginning of March is spring-like, the weather at the end of March Will be more like winter.
- A bud is a flower or a leaf that hasn’t opened yet, so you can think of a bud as a baby flower or leaf.
- The days get longer means the amount of daylight gets longer than the amount of darkness.
- A Nest is a house that birds build to keep their eggs and raise the baby birds once they hatch from the eggs.
- When flowers bloom or the leaves of a tree bloom, the buds open.
- When a tree or off plant is in full bloom it means that all of the buds have opened and all of the flowers are blooming.
- A fragrance is a pleasant smell.
- A shower is a rain storm. The proverb, “April showers bring May flowers,” means that we tend to have a lot of rain in the month of April and the result is that a lot of the flowers bloom in May.
